Glacier Bay National Park

We flew out of Juneau due North West for 25 minutes, arrived in Gustavus, and then the van had to pick up a group from Whale Watching. It was a blessing because we so so many bald eagles as the tide was out.

Just a little scary!


Eagles are everywhere.

Cruise through Glacier Bay on a catamoran. It was cool. We saw whales, otters, grizzly bears and cubs, eagles, puffins and a bunch of not so interesting birds. There brown bear is a grizzly bear: the brown bear grew up on the shore where as the grizzly grew up inland but they are actually the same cept the inland grizzly developed an attitude because he had no where to hide on the tundra. Of course, there are black bears too, that can be any color.

Dropped off a few kayaks. Picked up a few.

Suggest to Jeni that she try it. The kayak would be fun but not the camping out in the rain especially after you were wet.

Brown Grizzlies

Margie's Glacier on the West Arm of Glacier Bay

Melburn Glacier was much bigger but looked like a steep pile of dirt.

Nature walk outside of lodge. Fit for a moose!

You can see the hard mushroom looking fungi -DMW called them conks.

Yellowstone Lily Pads are white.

Interesting natives called Tlingit: The Ravens and the Eagles (more later).
